What to know
The G1 is the humanoid most people mean when they say you can now buy one. It is about 1.32 m tall and is famous online for its kung-fu and boxing demos.
It is a development platform, not a butler. Out of the box it walks, balances and runs Unitree's demos; making it do useful work means programming it yourself. That is why most buyers are universities, labs and well-funded hobbyists.
The $13,500 base model has simple arms. The EDU versions add more joints, optional dexterous hands and an NVIDIA Orin computer for AI research, at several times the price.
Good for
- Robotics labs and universities
- Developers building humanoid AI
- Content creators and showrooms
Watch out for
- About 2 hours of battery
- Does not do household chores on its own
- Retailer prices vary widely; compare before buying
